Job Description:
Job Description Job Description CVector’s mission is to bring
real time economic optimization and AI prediction to every energy
and manufacturing plant. Industrial facilities make decisions every
minute that determine cost, reliability, and margin, but the
signals that matter live in different worlds: live asset
constraints and process reality on one side, feedstock prices,
product prices, demand, and market dynamics on the other. We fuse
those worlds into one decision layer that continuously forecasts
what is coming, simulates what could happen, and optimizes what to
do next, so plants can run closer to their true economic potential
every day. This position works from our New York City office four
days per week. CVector has customers across the United States and
operates real-world systems in demanding industrial environments.
Role Overview The Research Engineer plays a critical role in
advancing our industrial and energy modeling, machine learning, and
analysis capabilities, supporting customers in achieving their
economic, operational, and sustainability goals. These modeling and
analysis capabilities are mission critical and underpin the
knowledge base for CVector's AI Agents. They ensure customers are
receiving robust, reliable recommendations from our AI Agents that
are bound by real equipment and facility constraints. You will
report to the CTO and develop and implement models and analytical
tools for standardized products and bespoke customer needs.
Specifically, you will be developing and deploying CVector's
techno-economic analysis (TEA) and linear programming (LP) models
to inform and recommend to our customers how to operate their
facilities more profitably, with lower energy costs and reduced
emissions. You will also develop and work with our library of ML
and AI time series algorithms for anomaly detection, forecasting,
and predictive equipment failure. This role is ideal for an
experienced energy modeler or data scientist with substantial
experience in the energy or industrial sectors. We seek someone who
thrives in startup environments and enjoys cross-functional work
that supports founders, investors, customers, and team members
alike. Responsibilities As a Research Engineer, you will
collaborate with our team and be responsible for: Ensuring
CVector's modeling and analysis ecosystem supports and enhances our
AI Agent experience Developing and integrating with market data
APIs for energy and commodity prices, carbon intensity, and weather
forecasts. Implementing a host of time series analysis techniques
including AI/ML-drive methods for energy forecasting and predictive
failure. Developing and using our algorithm training architecture
to ensure quality results for our customers. Developing and
deploying TEA and LP models to optimize equipment and facility
operations. Preparing and delivering TEA and LP model results to
customers to inform their development and facility expansion plans.
Collaborating directly with customers to refine and deploy
solutions tailored to their project operational needs. Analyze
customer data with a host of statistical methods and tools to
distill actionable recommendations for customers. Be a critical
member of our customer success team, leading customer-facing calls
and discussions. Requirements Our current modeling and analysis
stack is Python-based and includes modern CI/CD workflows managed
through GitHub. A strong candidate will bring many (but not
necessarily all) of the following: 5 years of experience and/or
advanced degrees in industrial or energy analytics and
techno-economic analysis or ML and statistics applied in industry,
preferably in an early-stage or growth-stage company Demonstrated
strength in Python Working knowledge of energy and commodity
markets Comfortable managing multiple analytical projects at once
High attention to detail and ability to prioritize independently in
a low-structure, high-trust environment Excitement to utilize the
latest AI tools to accelerate your work, while maintaining an eye
on quality Ability to rapidly prototype while acknowledging
limitations Working experience in FinTech, quantitative analysis,
and econometrics greatly preferred Excellent communication and
coordination skills across remote, distributed teams Benefits
CVector provides team members with: A competitive compensation
package with meaningful equity upside A robust selection of health,
dental, and vision insurance options Optional Health Flexible
Spending Account (FSA) Unlimited PTO with a three week minimum per
year, plus additional sick days Top of the line work equipment and
IT setup, including high performance laptops and a modern developer
stack Unlimited access to the latest AI agent systems and
productivity tools to help you move faster and build better Visa
support for candidates currently based in the US, including
employer sponsored visa applications where applicable The
anticipated base salary range for this role is $125,000 to
$150,000. Why This Role Matters at CVector CVector's TEA models and
time series algorithms inform operators at $100 million industrial
facilities where changes in operations can results in millions of
dollars of savings. We need the best and brightest team to ensure
our models are top of the line and stress tested against corner
cases that could lead to poor recommendations. If you enjoy deeply
understanding physical systems, advocating for customers, and
driving real-world decisions, this role will give you both
ownership and impact.
