SERVICE TECHNICIAN - YARD CREW - GRADE 1

The Service Technician will be responsible for performing unskilled maintenance activities requiring basic labor skills, usually developed on the job, or assists a higher level mechanic/skilled trade person in performing the more difficult, complex, larger maintenance projects.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs general maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • May assist skilled trades person.
  • Assist equipment operators in moving heavy furniture and equipment.
  • Perform various grounds maintenance activities, e.g., mowing lawns, trimming hedges, snow removal, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment.
  • May disassemble machinery and equipment.
  • Sand and prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Cleans and maintains tools.
  • Keep simple records of activities, time spent, etc.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Perform all duties safely in accordance with AMRI-Rensselaer Safety Program.
  • Perform all duties within the guidelines outlined by Good Manufacturing Practices for active pharmaceutical intermediates.
  • Perform all duties in an environmentally compliant manner in accordance with the AMRI-Rensselaer Environmental Program.
  • Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or service.
  • Participate in self-development activities and training of others.
  • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; advanced degree preferred
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs
  • Good math skills and the ability to follow FDA manufacturing guidelines are essential .

    Language/Communication Skills

    Communication skills and an ability to work with others in a team environment is necessary. The candidate must be capable of working in a demanding physical and intellectual environment.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job

    include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Incumbent may be required to obtain/qualify for and maintain the clearance to wear a respirator at a "class B" level or above following OSHA mandated guidelines.
