Position Summary
As a Business Performance Data Analyst II, you are responsible for providing accurate, complete, timely and insightful reports and analysis used for business management to inform decision making. You work closely with department and/or functional managers on assessing the benefit and Return on Investment (ROI) for a wide range of innovation projects. More specifically, you will assist and develop financial models that quantify the benefit in terms of lower cost, increased speed, increased serviceable market, and reduced complexity. Your accurate analysis and insights are key inputs that are critical to ensuring the success of our business.
Essential Job Functions


  • Independently develops and deploys Power BI reports and analysis on multiple projects/programs in parallel that is accurate, complete, and properly summarized to aid in management of business and management decision making
  • Responsible for querying and summarizing data from JDE, Oracle, CRM, and other corporate systems
  • Independently creates financial models that include but are not limited to cost, ROI and forecasts, that provides management with clear and concise explanations of relevant trends, outlooks, and/or exceptions
  • Produces weekly, monthly, and quarterly trend and activity reports as well as other operational and management reports. Ensures that reports are produced per scheduled timelines for review by functional management teams
  • Works directly with department and/or functional teams to improve complex data pipelines and correct issues when identified
  • Partner with stakeholders to design and develop reports and ensures that they perform as expected
  • Understand operational data flow through key systems (OSPI, NetCracker, Service Now, CRM, PMT, etc...) and relationship to key financial systems / general ledger
  • Analyze and review existing reporting/processes and provide recommendations for improvement and enhancement
  • Produces ad-hoc reporting and support for projects as assigned

    Education/Certifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Management Science, Data Science, or related quantitative discipline

      Experience/Minimum Requirements

      • Three plus (3+) years business intelligence, financial and operational reporting experience
      • Considerable experience in requirements gathering, scope drafting, resource organization, task prioritization, scheduling, and achieving objectives on schedule
      • Some experience with forecasting methods and data analysis
      • Foundational knowledge of relational databases, specifically SQL Server and Oracle
      • Experience in writing DAX functions in Power BI and data modeling
      • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel (specifically, advanced formulas, pivot tables and charts) including experience building complex financial models
      • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and work effectively on multiple complex projects/programs in a deadline-driven environment

        Other Skills/Abilities

        • Intermediate ability to summarize large amounts of complex data into management reports
        • Working knowledge of JDE / Oracle and other data analysis and financial ERP tools
        • Data visualization design and best practices
        • Problem solving skills and the ability to determine root causes of anomalies
        • Ability to write reports using various software and tools and advanced analytical languages
        • Customer focus in problem-solving approach
        • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills and team first mentality
        • Ability to prioritize multiple complex projects and work well under pressure
        • Strong knowledge of telecommunications and network construction in both the Public and Privates rights-of-way a plus

          Reports to: Sr. Manager Business Performance Analytics.
          Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable): N/A
          Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in your assigned office approximately 60% of the time (3 days per week) and where you do your best work 40% (2 days per week). There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that requires up to 25% travel.
          Additional Information: Crown Castle is a federal contractor and the COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of employment by your start date to comply with Executive Order 14042.
