Part Time After School Partner Immediate opening for SY 22-23 About Common Ground High School Common Ground High School is the nation's longest-running environmental charter high school, founded in 1997. Our 230 students form an inclusive, powerful community of learners and leaders. These students benefit from a unique learning environment: an urban farm and 20-acre site, home to state of the art school facilities, adjacent to West Rock Ridge State Park, and located in the City of New Haven. We strive to create a learning environment grounded in foundational building blocks: rigor, responsive relationships, relevance that's rooted in the local community and environment, and real roles & rights. Common Ground's graduation rate consistently surpasses the state average, and between 97 and 100% of our students are accepted to college each year.Common Ground High School is part of a community nonprofit organization that also operates an urban farm and community environmental education center. As a whole, Common Ground is a center for learning and leadership, inviting people across ages and identities to connect to their urban environment, build community, grow into their full potential, and contribute to a just and sustainable world. About the Position: We are seeking after school enrichment providers to join our team for the School Year. Compensation for this position is a stipend per semester. Semester runs from October 3rd - December 16th which is broken down as follows:$25 per session; stipends range from $225 and $1000 per semester based upon the number of sessions provided.Responsibilities of the after school provider are as follows: Plan and implement enrichment activities such as: dance, music, art, health, and other high-interest recreational extra-curricular learning experiences. Work effectively with students in after school activities and assist with behavior management, discipline, interpersonal actions, and act as a role model. Help mentor students in a variety of learning and life experiences. Support environments that are safe, healthy, and conducive to student learning. Assist recruitment and enrollment of students in afterschool programs and activities. Promote participation of students, school staff, volunteers, and parents. Gather and maintain student participation, development, and achievement data for program evaluation efforts. Travel locally and regionally as necessary to fulfill after school grant requirements. Perform related duties as assigned by the Engagement and Out of School Opportunities ManagerWe are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following: Experience leading child and youth learning activities including educational enrichment; experience in financial and investment literacy; visual/performing arts; health/nutrition/technology; sports/recreation; debates and mock trials; cultural groups and events Techniques and methods of student supervision and behavior management. Basic computer and technology applications. English usage, spelling, and writing. Work effectively with students of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Establish and maintain effective working relations with program and school personnel. Communicate effectively in oral and written expression. Physically perform job tasks.
