Job Description:
OverviewThe Electrical Engineer will be responsible for design
and development, as well as testing all aspects of electrical
components, equipment, products, machinery and/or systems. This
position is involved in the design and development of a family of
new innovative products, working in a stimulating multifunctional
team environment. This role is directly involved in developing
innovative products embedding intelligence into electrical wiring
devices. You will be a part of a team on the forefront of expanding
our reach into the industrial internet of things and smart
devices.This position is on-site.ResponsibilitiesDesign digital,
microprocessor-based circuits with understanding of the firmware
requirementsDesign analog circuits including power supply,
amplifiers, and sensorsPerform and assist in assembly /
modifications of electronic sub-assembliesTest prototypes and
integrated systems as a part of development processDevelop and
institute concepts and solutions to design and application
problemsOperate in a team environment, practicing concurrent
engineering by working closely with members on the development
team, as well as Manufacturing, Marketing, Packaging, and other
team membersParticipate in design reviews related to assigned
projectsDevelop product specifications with development and
marketing teamPerform evaluation of circuits for agency testing;
FCC, UL, CSA, etc.Understand manufacturing requirements for the
electronic assemblies / products / systems and applying Design for
Manufacture, Design for Assembly concepts to all functionsAssist
manufacturing by traveling to the manufacturing facilities for
engineering sample and pilot run start-ups as requiredPerform
tolerance analysis of electronic sub-systems.Assist in component
documentation and review of component drawingsEvaluate and approve
alternate and second source of componentsUnderstand the markets
served by the products / systems developedTroubleshoot field
problemsSupport and update existing products as requested through
the Engineering Change Request (ECR) programIdentify critical path
functions required to meet product availability schedulesDevelop
and improve product development processes and other engineering
processesPrepare accurate and up-to-date reports for field and
executive managementQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor s
Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science &
Engineering required, Master s Degree is preferredMinimum 4 years
experience requiredExperience with designing power supplies, sensor
interfacing and signal conditioning, microprocessor-based designs,
circuit design using discrete semiconductors and
magneticsExperience with design and development of electronic
products with technologies that are commonly found in IoT
(networking, wireless etc.) is a plus.Experience using ECAD, with
ability of schematic and layout creation. Knowledge of Altium
Designer is highly desirable.Experience with product validation
tests for UL, FCC, CSA and other agenciesSkills &
AbilitiesFamiliarity with analog design simulation tools (Spice
Simulators)Familiarity with failure analysis techniques such as
DFMEA and PFMEABench and system-level integration assemble / debug
/ troubleshootingUnderstanding system grounding / shielding and EMI
mitigation design techniqueAbility to operate basic test equipment
(scopes, signal generators, power supplies etc.)Solution oriented;
thinks creatively to solve problemsAbility to work in a team
environment and independentlyProficiency with Microsoft Office
applications including Word, Excel and PowerPointTravelUp to 10%;
