Essential Duties

  1. Establishes and maintains accounts and records. Reviews records for accuracy and compliance to regulations. Initiates adjustments. 2. May authorize refunds. Completes and processes forms. Prepares and distributes billing statements. 3. Responds to inquiries through correspondence, by telephone or in person. Receives, logs, and posts payments. Prepares and verifies deposits. 4. Balances daily cash receipts. Codes account information. May compose correspondence pertaining to account activities. 5. Performs clerical functions incidental to account maintenance activities.

Required Education and Experience

Two years of related work experience and a high school level education; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Position Focus:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Parking and Transit Services, provides high level customer service at University owned parking garages for both members of the Yale Community and its visitors. Working under limited supervision, cashiers are asked to exercise independent judgment but seek assistance from their supervisor when necessary. A parking cashier is responsible for registering cash and credit card transactions associated with daily and monthly parking customers, including collecting payment; provide correct change by scanning, itemizing and totaling customer parking charges.

The Parking Cashier will accurately account for all daily transactions. Provides high-level customer service providing an experience that is fair, friendly, and courteous. Resolves customer issues and answers questions. Provides support to customers at the cashier station, lobby area and inside the garage area at both in and out lanes. Monitors and documents conditions in garages and lots, and contact supervisor for security, facilities, or equipment related issues. Responsible for minor equipment failures, loading and unloading of ticket spitters and working of overhead door and securing the parking facility. Other parking related duties as required.

Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for registering cash and credit card transactions.

Accurately account for all daily transactions and report all variances to your supervisor immediately.

Provides high-level customer service.

Monitors, document and report all issues regarding the condition of the parking facility.

Performs clerical functions incidental to account maintenance activities.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Three years of related work experience, one of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and a high school education; or one year of related work experience and an Associate degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
