Essential Duties

  1. Working closely with the Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs for the Yale School of Medicine, and as a member of the senior leadership team, the Director will develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy with short-term and long-term goals to support the strategic priorities. 2. The Director will design, develop, and implement strategic fundraising plans to meet such fundraising goals. 3. Develop broad engagement opportunities for the Dean and faculty leaders engaged in leading the strategic initiatives and create innovative strategies to build and foster relationships with clinical faculty 4. Build and maintain a significant portfolio of high net-worth and ultra-high net-worth prospects and donors. 5. Work regularly and cooperatively with colleagues from the Yale School of Medicine Development Office as well as the overall Development operation to implement the fundraising strategies and to ensure overall development priorities, plans, and initiatives are coordinated. 6. May perform other duties as necessary.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years' experience in development and/or alumni relations.

Position Focus:

The Director for Strategic Initiatives will develop an effective fundraising program in alignment with the strategic priorities outlined by the Dean of the School of Medicine. S/He will build and advance relationships with donors including but not limited to alumni, non-alumni, and friends of the school and university and grateful patients and their families, with an ultimate goal to secure gifts in support strategic initiatives of individual departments as well as to advance the strategic goals of the Yale School of Medicine. A creative and energetic visionary undaunted by complexity, the Director will bring a high level of sophistication, development leadership, and professional expertise to the organization. The successful candidate will be a skilled relationship builder who will inspire trust and collaboration with senior leadership, faculty, and colleagues across the departments and the School.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Successful track record of experience in major gift fundraising, preferably in the healthcare environment. Experience working in college/university/academic medical center setting.
