Achievement First Student Programs Coordinator VISTA (NY)

capacity in specific areas targeted to maximize student success.
The student life coordinator position brings joy and engagement to
the school community by building a repertoire of student events and
engagement strategies to get students interested in and excited
about schools. The attendance coordinator position tackles chronic
absenteeism through designing and leading intensive interventions.
The college coordinator position builds connections with colleges
across the country to bring college opportunities home, allowing
students to connect firsthand with impactful opportunities. The
community engagement position builds bridges in the community and
brings resources to bear. After-school programs, clubs, community
service opportunities, extra academic tutoring, and parent
engagement are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this

Member Duties : VISTA members will build organizational capacity
by creating programming for topics such as attendance
interventions, student life, college access, community engagement,
parent engagement, community service, tutoring, food and
transportation access, and more. These roles work on school
operations teams whose job it is to facilitate the functioning of
an entire school. A VISTA's capacity-building work would greatly
improve the team's ability to better serve students. By
researching, developing, and disseminating new programming and new
methods for serving student needs, these roles increase a school's
capacity to plan and deliver excellent programming. This position
is best for someone with a strong sense of initiative who likes to
be creative and find new ways of doing things while operating
within a large system where the impact could be huge.
