FRMS is designed to be the principal faculty-facing sponsored programs and research administration management unit for central campus. FRMS serves as the interface between central services such as the Office of Sponsored Projects and academic departments. FRMS provides support to 48 schools/departments.Essential Duties1. Lead and direct all aspects of the Faculty Research Management Services Post Award Unit services. Maintain responsibility for achieving all service quality standards for the unit. Serves as the primary contact and escalation point for all Post Award financial management issues for FRMS. 2. Develop and maintain strong and collaborative working partnerships with the Pre Award Unit, faculty, Office of Sponsored Projects and SPFA, and other key stakeholders. Work with department administrators to ensure service level agreement compliance. 3. Collaborate with client department leadership to achieve sound financial grant management, support strategic decision-making and mitigate risk. Manage onboarding activities of new departments including implementing partnership agreement. 4. Develop, maintain and foster an integral relationship with Central post-award leadership (SPFA) to ensure continuous, non- duplicative, and effective processes, training, and services that will aid in the support of the FRMS Partnership Agreement. 5. Execute an effective communication process between FRMS Post Award and departments/ faculty. Develop clear communication channels, knowledge sharing, staff development and process improvements. 6. Identify and develop non-duplicative and efficient processes, and services that will optimize the responsibilities between faculty, departments and central administration. Implement solutions to process issues and streamline operations to ensure an efficient, effective practice with high client satisfaction. 7. Oversee the FRMS Post Award Unit staff and daily operations. Direct team resources to monitor and plan budgeting, forecasting and financial management activities. Supervise, motivate and develop staff. Monitor results of staff and manage performance as appropriate. 8. Execute major strategic planning and analysis projects within the FRMS Post Award Unit. 9. Develop and maintain deep knowledge of both Yale finance and budgeting processes and applicable federal, state and University policies and procedures and the business of designated portfolio and associated leadership to provide relevant, strategic and value-add budget and financial management services. Monitor and enforce compliance with all University procedures, practices, and standards. 10. Ensure the optimization of technology; work collaboratively with other University units to incorporate use of existing and upcoming technology enhancements. 11. Keep current in regulatory, University, sponsor and process changes through involvement in professional organizations and seminar attendance. 12. Represent the Senior Director, for select areas, in his/her absence.Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with at least 6 years of experience in a related position or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Experience influencing others outside direct scope of control. Experience managing projects.Required Skill/Ability 1:Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills. In-depth knowledge of University Policies and Procedures and Federal Regulations for sponsored research. Demonstrated experience in financial analysis. Comprehensive knowledge of University's accounting systems. Experience with IRES and Workday. Strong aptitude with systems and attention to detail.
