The Senior Manager, Global Finance Master Data is a key
contributing member of the Alexion Finance Team and will develop,
operationalize and supervise Alexion’s global finance master data
strategy. Global Finance Master Data’s mission is to implement a
comprehensive, Finance focused, master data program. This position
will serve as the recognized Finance master data data expert and a
business partner to the Alexion Finance Teams (Accounting, Tax,
Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, Investor Relations,
Internal Audit, Business Development and Corporate Strategy). This
position will be responsible for Alexion’s finance master data
processes, resources, tools, policies and procedures. This role
requires interactions throughout the Alexion organization,
including multiple global locations as well as functions beyond
Finance, such as Legal, Compliance, IT and GDPR. Additionally, this
role also requires interaction with external service providers.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Finance Master Data
Own finance master data management, governance, and data quality
to ensure functional master data integrity across the operation of
financial systems is consistent and meets stated business rules and
Administer existing policies and develop new policies and
procedures for the Global Finance teams related to finance master
Support integrations of FMD with other data initiatives include
software integrations and data policies. Ensure consistent usage
and common definitions of FMD exist between Finance and other
departments in the company.
Identifies areas for finance master data quality improvements
and helps to resolve data quality problems through the appropriate
choice of error detection and correction, process control and
improvement, or process design strategies.
Ensures quality of finance master data in key systems, as well
as, development and documentation of processes to support ongoing
maintenance and data integrity.
Manage and design processes to govern FMD life cycles including
creation, modification, and ultimately retirement.
Manage FMD end user requests and questions as well as coordinate
with other departments and functions on potential downstream of FMD
changes on different processes and systems.
In collaboration with subject matter experts and data stewards,
defines and implements data strategy, policies, controls, and
programs to ensure the finance master data is accurate, complete,
secure, and reliable.
Communicate with FMD end users as well as escalate issues to
Steering Committee members as needed on FMD topics and updates
Provides assistance in resolving data quality problems through
the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process
control and improvement, or process design strategies collaborating
with subject matter experts (SMEs) and data stewards.
Work closely with the business/IT to ensure alignment of finance
master data rules and the operations of the application meet all
requirements. Participate in enterprise wide strategic projects
involving FMD concepts and improvements as needed.
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience with ERP master data structures that support multiple
product, country, and franchise reporting lines, preferably
experience with SAP master data structures.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Communicate effectively with all levels in the organization and
with external bodies.
Computer experience with all Microsoft office products
