The Senior Manager, Technical Accounting, manages the initial
accounting and documentation of complex technical accounting
transactions and provides technical guidance and support for
proposed business transactions. A key responsibility of this role
includes leading the assessment, comminucation and implementation
of all new accounting rules and regulations. This position is based
in New Haven, CT and reports to the Director, Technical
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include the following:
Evaluate new accounting rules and regulations to assess and
document the impact on the Company’s financial statements and
Lead implementation efforts for new accounting standards
engaging cross-functional teams as necessary.
Prepare and communicate regular technical accounting updates to
Finance Leadership and the Global Finance team.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on the accounting for
complex hedging, financing, revenue and inventory transactions, as
well as complex equity transactions, including modifications, and
complex leasing transactions, including embedded lease
Perform technical research and provide accounting guidance
related to new complex contracts and transactions.
Prepare technical memorandums supporting the proper accounting
treatment for complex transactions.
Review drafts of significant contracts, including revenue and
distributor agreements, and provide feedback to the business on the
expected accounting treatment.
Lead the quarterly long-lived asset impairment review
Provide support for Company business development activities,
including diligence for potential acquisitions, as needed.
Draft new footnotes and required disclosures for new accounting
standards and complex technical accounting areas which are included
in the Form 10-K, 10-Q and other SEC filings.
Lead ad hoc technical accounting training sessions to educate
the business on complex accounting topics.
Manage internal and external audit requirements related to
technical accounting areas.
Understand, manage and improve technical accounting processes
Monitor and communicate to Management key SEC development and
comment letter trends.
Lead the continuous professional education program for the
controllership team through engagement with external vendors.
Monitor and revise policies and procedures to ensure the
adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over the technical
Manage SOX controls and compliance for technical accounting
Build and manage relationships with various business partners,
including the tax, legal, treasury and FP&A departments to
achieve the highest level of client satisfaction.
Review accounting policies for matters that are highly
Support SEC financial reporting process as needed, including the
review of disclosures for complex accounting matters.
Provide special project assistance as needed
Minimum of 7 years of relevant accounting and technical
experience, including 5+ years of Big 4 public accounting
Bachelors degree in Accounting and CPA certification
Extensive command of US GAAP with deep technical knowledge and
