Anthem Reimagine CSBD (ARC) team is looking for an innovative, high energy, strategic problem solver to play an integral role in our cross-functional matrixed team, as we power Anthem’s future and significantly improve customer experience in the crucial Commercial journey.

Our team’s vision is to Reimagine the Commercial pre-sales through post-enrollment journey to ensure our customers experience a seamless process, and members receive timely access to care. We will pursue end-to-end opportunities that maximize experiences, and leverage digital-first automation and technologies in this endeavor.

As part of this Reimagine effort, we will:

Create visibility into the current customer experience in critical moments that matter in the Commercial journey

Define the reimagined future state customer experiences

Drive cross-functional connectivity in what, why, and how we deliver to our customers

Create accountability for delivery of people, process, and technology improvements and related value realization

Advance key culture, behaviors and mindset changes to scale customer-centricity across the enterprise

Position Description:

The Strategy Director will be responsible for Anthem Reimagine CSBD (ARC) team’s strategy formulation, strategic planning, program governance and executive communications. The role will work hand-in-hand with ARC team members and will engage a team of cross-functional planning and delivery leaders and SMEs to develop and execute the ARC strategic vision.

Please note: This is not a Project Manager position. This role is responsible for thinking strategically, bringing analytical thought process to strategy formulation, looking at strengths and weaknesses, and ensuring effective solutions and strategies are prioritized, implemented, and measured.

Primary duties to include but are not limited to:

Strategy and Execution Planning :

Collaborate with business partners and executive leadership to define the future vision, strategy, and key metrics of success for ARC

Bring a market-backed, outside-in perspective to develop and inform the strategy. Identify and research perspectives on organizations that deliver best-in-class customer experience and drive strategic outcomes related to access to care

Succinctly and powerfully visualize strategy and use to communicate and collaborate with variety of stakeholders, including executives, peers, partners, delegates, and others as necessary

Translate the ARC strategy into executable programs, projects, priorities, timelines, and roadmap

Design, implement and maintain business and KPI dashboards that monitor the key metrics for success and value creation; present dashboards to key stakeholders and executives for transparency and validation

Propose opportunities to improve results based on continuous value monitoring and needs assessments

Provide guidance on strategic priorities across multiple initiatives and programs to drive the right value at the right time for the right stakeholders

Governance and Facilitation:

Establish governance processes both internal to the team and external with key business partners, stakeholders and lines of business to ensure rapid decision-making and solution development

Facilitate decision making with executive sponsors and key stakeholders across Anthem

Manage transparency and ensure a clear process for final decisions (“tie breakers”)

Collaboration and Communication:

Manage and deliver all strategic and executive communications for the ARC tower while adapting the message, content, and vehicle for different stakeholder groups

Creatively, clearly, succinctly, and consistently share the ARC story, including simplifying complex and difficult messages

Act as the key point of contact for other teams in Reimagine, Digital and across the enterprise to partner together to ensure alignment of the ARC strategy to their respective strategies

Serve as a thought partner to the ARC leads

Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and works independently and collaboratively to drive to ARC value

Results-driven, has a high attention to detail and produces high quality work products

Passionately drives our Reimagine objectives and has a genuine interest in improving customer experience and outcomes

Qualifications

Requires a BA/BS degree in a related field; 10 years of strategic planning, project/program management, vendor management experience; 3-5 years of leadership/management with business knowledge in multiple disciplines within a Healthcare organization; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Masters degree preferred. 10 years of leadership/management experience in healthcare business; experience in strategic and analytical thinking, including developing a strategic plan with corresponding tactical plans; planning and/or consulting experience; strong leadership skills in matrixed environment; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Advanced skills in PowerPoint and highly proficient in Excel. Master’s degree preferred. Ability to travel ~25%.
