Description:Job Title: Sr Specialist, Software Engineer - Embedded Software Job Code: SAS20222107-87235 Job Location: North Amityville, NY Job Description: L3Harris has an immediate opening for an Embedded Software Engineer, responsible for research, design, and development of computer applications and embedded software, in conjunction with hardware product development. Primarily responsible for the design and development of software products for a variety applications. The Engineer participates in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test of software products. Applies computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target application. Works closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system. Develops software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation. Contributes to determining, estimating, and validating the cost and scope of software efforts to ensure software performed meets program cost, schedule, and technical constraints. Occasional travel to customer sites. Essential Functions: Utilize software engineering principles, processes, and industry best practices with the ability to apply them in daily work. Develop software for Windows based workstations supporting customer product configuration and internal production/test team operations, FPGA based embedded systems and Linux based embedded systems Interact with Systems, software, program management on specifications/requirements in a collaborative team environment. Participate in integration and test, requirements sell off, and operations and maintenance of software systems. Communicate regularly and effectively with program management, project leadership team and stakeholders with regards to status and milestones, and well as risks and ability to execute on mitigation plans. Includes documentation, reporting and presentation. Manage large efforts both inside and outside of immediate work area. Contribute to achievement of departmental goals and plans with direct impact on departmental results. Provide SW/Systems customer support, occasionally at customer sites. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field) and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Experience programming in C and C++ for headless embedded systems. Experience in integration/test of embedded SW with product hardware. Experience in structured and documented software design following a defined development process. Experience in software configuration management using change request and source code management tools. Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters and other electronic test equipment. Active Secret security clearance. Preferred Additional Skills: Experience with the Universal Armaments Interface specification. Experience programming in C and C++ for embedded real time systems. Experience in development of embedded systems with and without a RTOS. Experience in LabView based software development.
