team is a highly skilled and motivated full-cycle software
development & support organization. Position Summary: Our candidate
for this role is a subject matter expert well versed in database
administration and engineering practices and principles including
planning, building, tuning, and maintaining database systems,
technology, and infrastructure. As a technical specialist, this
individual will work closely with our software architecture,
information architecture, software development and DevOps teams
providing technical guidance and expertise relating to data,
databases, and supporting systems in solving complex problems and
creating innovative solutions. Responsibilities: Oversee
maintenance, configuration, and implementation of our DBMS Design,
architect, and build databases from business requirements Develop
DB innovation, strategies, processes, and best practices Map out
the conceptual design for a planned database Establish, manage,
control, and monitor access permissions and privileges Transforming
/ mapping conceptual application schemas to specific data model
Maintain data standards and adherence to all regulatory and
compliance requirements Ethically handle private data and
healthcare data (PII / PHI) Work engineering staff on database
design changes to meet business requirements Define and implement
changes and improvements for database maintenance or protection
Support software developers with database operations including the
development of complex SQL, writing, and troubleshooting complex
stored procedures Install, setup and test new versions of the DBMS
Develop, manage, and test back-up and recovery plans in conjunction
with DevOps team Define and implement storage, replication,
partitioning and archiving procedures Monitoring DB system
performance / associated hardware and software Reporting on metrics
regarding usage and performance Optimize current DB systems to
ensure quality system performance including index tuning, disk
optimization, partitioning schemes, and various other methods where
/ as appropriate Perform sizing and capacity planning Maintain data
integrity and security, manage roles and permissions of database
users Generate traces, execution plans, identify performance
issues, deadlocks / contention and remediate Manage in both
production and non-production database environments Set up and
maintain database infrastructure supporting Analytics / BI
processes Author database documentation, including data standards,
procedures, and definitions for a data dictionary (metadata)
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related
field, MS preferred 6 years' experience managing enterprise level
database environments Advanced certifications (e.g., MCDBA,
DBS-C01) preferred Strong background implementing distributed
applications across cloud platforms Strong fundamentals, including
OOD, data structures, interface protocols, design, and networking
concepts Experience in backend, server, and API development,
including application and database / data development and
architectures Background including MySQL, No SQL databases, and
in-memory databases Uses of normalization methods and design
methodologies Deep working knowledge of full stack software
development tools and methodologies, experience in Scrum / Agile
methodologies preferred Strong interpersonal, organizational and
communications skills Experience mentoring, supporting, and
developing other software engineers by providing advice or coaching
Skills: Microsoft SQL Server and Cosmos DB DB performance
troubleshooting skills DB monitoring and DB performance tuning and
associated tools (e.g., Azure SQL DB / Azure SQL Managed Instance,
SQL Profiler) SQL and stored procedures Query optimization and
index management ETL development and data integration Transactional
replication, setup, troubleshooting, and creating replication
scripts Backup and recovery, HA / DR implementation (e.g.,
mirroring, log shipping, failover, etc.) Code reviews for SQL best
practices and identifying inefficient query structures Other
database related technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Sequelize,
Redshift, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, etc.) Azure cloud technology stack
preferred Agile scrum development Travel Requirements: May require
local travel May require other occasional travel for business needs
Working Arrangements: Work is performed in a standard office
environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards May
require after hours on call support Must have received or be
willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be
