Under the general direction of the Program Director, the Assistant
Camp Director will be responsible for the overall Camp operation:
ensuring the safety of campers, licensing compliance, tone-setting,
communication with parents, camper behavior management, scheduling,
and quality of activities, staff evaluations and coordination of
transportation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Ensure, above all else,
campers are safe and well supervised. 2. Assist the Child Care
Director with recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, developing and
directing employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff
performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve
goals. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First)
in all interactions. 3. Monitors daily operations and ensures
compliance/training with all state and local licensing/regulations
(including but not limited to YMCA Best Practices, American Camp
Association standards and Department of Health policies). Ensures
that all procedures are followed and accurate records are
maintained. 4. Oversee the scheduling of program activities, theme
days, and family nights, in conjunction with the Specialists and
Counselors;oversee logistics and schedules for off-site trips. 5.
Communicate performance standards, supervise, evaluate and motivate
staff including coaching, teaching, modeling, reinforcing and
assisting with difficult situations and correcting behavior. 6.
Connect with staff, campers and parents, making all feel welcome
and included. 7. Review regularly with the Child Care Director all
concerns, priorities, progress, problems, reports and all matters
dealing with camp and programs. 8. Maintain and oversee supplies
and orders. 9. Identify and report maintenance concerns in a timely
fashion. 10.Attend all staff meetings, special events and training
events as scheduled. 11. Performs other duties as assigned. 12.
Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures,
including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and
accident reports as necessary. YMCA COMPETENCIES (Leader): Mission

Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s Degree in related field
or equivalent experience. 2. Minimum five years’ experience working
at a camp or related experience working with children in a
leadership capacity. 3. Must be able to independently lead and
actively participate in a variety of activities. 4. Experience in
supervision. 5. Ability to create and deliver activities. 6.
Excellent communication skills. 7. First Aid & CPR certifications.
