Summary:

The Quality Control Microbiology Laboratory Assistant performs administrative activities in support of the Microbiology Department. The QC Microbiology Laboratory Assistant performs tasks to support the microbiology laboratory including data entry, data filing, and data archiving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate a personal computer and printer. Utilize Microsoft Office, Novatek, and other software systems in the microbiology lab. Answer the microbiology phone and give messages to the microbiology staff.
  • Answer the microbiology doorbell and direct visitors to the correct microbiology staff. Performs Environmental Monitoring data entry into Novatek. Runs Novatek Reports as directed by microbiology staff as needed.
  • Perform other data entry as needed by the microbiology staff which could include EM data, Bioburden, BET, and Sterility results. Provide Support for general QC Microbiology Laboratory activities. Equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Maintaining supplies and inventory. General laboratory housekeeping. Archiving of laboratory data as needed.

    Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or five years of clerical administrative support experience and demonstrated skills in typing, personal computer, and Microsoft office.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Minimum of 1-3 years of industry experience in a GMP or GLP environment preferred.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to write reports and correspondence. Proficient and comfortable in business meetings and work-related social and business development situations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and communicate this information to others.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to apply basic math concepts.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.

    Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to organize time in order to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret and implement technical writing and instructions.
  • Effective interpersonal relation skills, while maintaining the adaptability to achieve company goals

    Verbally expresses ideas and facts in a clear, logical, concise, and in accepted grammatical style

    Other Qualifications:

    Must pass a background check

    Must pass a drug screen

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use their hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives; risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
