The CDO will lead adynamic team responsible for all PPSNE fundraising activities inConnecticut and Rhode Island. - The CDO will report directly tothe President/Chief Executive Officer, working directly with theCEO to support and grow PPSNE's fundraising program. - The CDOis a member of the Executive Leadership Team of PPSNE and a keypartner to the CEO. - The successful CDO will be an innovativeleader with a history of creating and maintaining greatrelationships and working across functions successfully. - TheCDO will advance all aspects of operations and strategies as theyrelate to fundraising and will partner directly with the ExecutiveLeadership team in working towards advancing philanthropic supportfor our mission and driving deeper engagement with all PPSNEconstituents. - PPSNE has a number of key developmentpriorities including: - - - - - - - - -Doubling our developmentprogram over the next five - ten years by stewarding relationships,building upon successful models with proven - -success andgrowth potential, while also implementing new opportunities toconnect donors to PPSNE and inspiring higher levels ofgiving. - - - - - - - - -Planning,directing, and executing an 8-figure capital campaign in additionto expanding the annual development program. - - - - - - - -Identifying andimplementing strategies to inspire support and engagement frompeople representative of the communities we serve. - -This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced, motivatingfundraising leader with a sound understanding of how to run acomplete fundraising effort in today's challenging market, who canbuild strong relationships, and is ready to inspire a passion forphilanthropy in others. Essential Functions

  • Leads the development of an agency-wide strategic vision andaction plan for fund development (both annual and specialcampaigns) that includes engagement of all of our constituents anddeepens the culture of philanthropy throughout PPSNE by maximizingopportunities for fund development and philanthropic engagement atall levels
  • Works in close collaboration with the President and CEO toensure successful delivery on fundraising goals and objectives,managing and supporting the CEO's relationship with the 50-60donors in the CEO's portfolio along with directly managing aportfolio of an additional -25 significant philanthropists/donorsand up to 50 key volunteers and staff
  • Is a member of the Executive Leadership team, providingorganization-wide leadership to advance our work and meet ourstrategic and operational goals
  • Supports the PPSNE Board of Directors and the boards ofdirectors of Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut and PlannedParenthood Votes! Rhode Island to develop board engagement inphilanthropy, their role in fund development strategies, buildingrelationships, and ensuring successful achievement of philanthropygoals
  • Develops, manages, and mentors the development team (currently9 staff) to ensure a dynamic and growing donor stewardship programand effective delivery of all development functions -
  • Promotes active collaboration amongst all teams across PPSNE,including strengthening the alignment of goals and roles, fosteringopen communication, and deepening a culture of accountability
  • Collaborates with leaders at PPFA in managing and cultivatingshared donor relationships and federation-wide fundraising efforts,including active participation as a development executive in theCollaborative Fundraising Program, providing timely and accuratereports to PPFA and other agencies, and represents PPSNE atmeetings, PPFA conferences, the PPFA DOC (Development Officers'Council) affinity group, community events, conferences, andfundraising events, as appropriate
  • Plays an active role in:
  • - - - - - - - Planning annually thebudget, staffing, capacity, and resource needs to meet thedevelopment objectives PPSNE sets forth
  • - - - - - - - Developing fundingsources and cultivating and maintaining donor relations forPPSNE;
  • - - - - - - - Identifying new donorsand expanding donor engagement across communities in ourgeography;
  • - - - - - - - Driving fund developmentactivities with the goal of significantly increasing fundraisingrevenue for not only PPSNE, but also for the C4 organizations,Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut and Planned Parenthood Votes!Rhode Island and PACs, PPVotes!CT - PAC and PPVotes!RI - PAC;
  • - - - - - - - Overseeing and attendingspecial events including the Spring Luncheon in Fairfield County,CT, the Champions event in Providence, RI, and several additionalannual events to support both the C3 and the C4s
  • Leads with an understanding of the role that racial inequityplays in our society and its impact on health, health care systems,and institutions, and consistently integrates a deep understandingof key racial equity concepts into work projects and interactionsby addressing structural implications and disproportionate impactsof policies, activities, and decisions on race, class, and othergroup identities within the context of job responsibilities andprojects
  • Assumes responsibility within the role to foster a culture ofequity, belonging, and accountability

    • A passionate commitment to the mission, vision, and values ofPPSNE
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, andbelonging and the intersection with health, philanthropy, andsocial justice
    • Proven success securing significant philanthropic investments,managing a high performing development team, and leading an 8figure plus capital campaign
    • Minimum of ten years' experience in non-profit fundraising,with proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and close six-figuregifts from individuals, familiarity with all aspects of funddevelopment, and a minimum of three years' experience in teammanagement
    • Ability to inspire, develop, and mentor the Developmentteam
    • An entrepreneurial self-starter willing to roll up theirsleeves to execute projects and programs
    • Outstanding cross-cultural communications skills, in writing,one-on-one meetings, and large presentations
    • Experience working with donors in Connecticut and Rhode Islandpreferred
    • Experience working closely with executive staff and volunteerleadership to engage and expand philanthropic support andculture
    • Experience implementing innovative initiatives within acomplex, matrixed organization
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high energy, dynamicenvironment
    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced professional developmenttraining, such as the CFRE preferred; advanced degree or equivalentwork experience preferredPersonal Attributes
