Process Excellence
The Director, Process Excellence will be responsible for process
improvement initiatives throughout the organization. They will lead
a team of business partners who are aligned to key functional
areas. They will provide thought leadership and process
simplification in support of streamlining operational processes
using six sigma, lean, and continuous improvement principles to
harmonize and simplify organization-wide business processes. They
will exhibit strong leadership and interpersonal skills and possess
process excellence and continuous improvement acumen. They will
plan and direct the work of staff who will engage all internal
stakeholders, execute on business process management strategies,
drive process assessments and standards, implement an enterprise
business process mapping repository, and drive improvements &
automation to the company's process landscape. ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
- Overall lead for the Process Improvement team.
- Daily management of all department personnel, all vendors and
overall administration of entire process improvement efforts.
- Develop and foster a culture of simplification by leading
continuous improvement activities enterprise-wide involving
employees from all levels of the organization.
- Drive lean solutions to complex initiatives of strategic
importance.
- Leverage best practice approaches for process improvement. This
includes effectively positioning and applying lean six sigma and
analytical tools and techniques (e.g., process mapping) for faster
and more comprehensive insights about processes, procedures and
gaps.
- Implement and integrate process mining techniques to discover
critical business processes.
- Build compelling cases for change that drive efficiency and
improve overall operations for the enterprise.
- Serve as a thought leader to achieve common goals, and secure
active participation and strong advocacy from the business. Thinks
outside the box for best practices and bring industry knowledge and
innovation ideas into the RWA business areas.
- Analyze business processes working collaboratively with IT
resources and vendors in solutioning technical aspects of process
improvements.
- Develop roadmaps identifying current and future business
processes utilizing various technologies.
- Technical savvy and technical acumen to translate business
requirements to IT digital solutions.
- Works with the business stakeholders on simplification projects
to improve business requirements and enable capabilities through
systems solutions working in collaboration with IT.
- Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to drive
engagement and buy-in for strategic initiatives and identifying
process gaps to improve overall program success. Drives and
facilitates effective collaboration and communications cross
functionally to make the necessary improvements.
- Collaborates with management to measure the effectiveness of
the department with an innovative mindset and soliciting continuous
feedback to improve business processes & goals. Takes
accountability for business process improvements.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization from
senior management to union employees.
- Works with functional leaders in identifying continuous
improvement opportunities, while driving results through the power
of influence and the engagement of Work Out and Lean Six Sigma
principals, methodologies and tools in identifying areas of
opportunity.
- Other duties as necessary to accomplish strategic initiatives
assigned in the Strategic Plan and to support the higher purpose,
mission, vision and STARS values or the organization. JOB
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Educational Requirement:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related
discipline.
- 10 years' experience in business operations or a service
environment
- PMI-PMP certification, required. Experience/Skills/Abilities:
- Supports the RWA's STARS values (Service, Teamwork,
Accountability, Respect and Safety), mission, vision, and higher
purpose.
- Experience managing a large group of complex projects and
teams.
- Excellent leadership, management, written and verbal
communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple
tasks and priorities.
- Excellent technical skills. Ability to analyze problems, assess
alternatives, and identify solutions.
- Proactive Leader who works well independently but also as a
member of a team.
- Strong communication abilities, able to collaborate and be a
team player. Demonstrates core values of the Authority. Excellent
interpersonal skills in the areas of creative problem-solving,
conflict resolution, group planning, and decision-making
processes.
- Strong knowledge of utility industry, water and/or
environmental services experience a plus. Along with an
understanding of processes and work flow management.
- Excellent training, presentation and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated competency working across business units with an
integrated team to achieve positive results.
- Demonstrated success at launching new processes and utilization
of analytical and process improvement tools and methods. Physical /
Mental Job Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver's license and able to travel within
RWA's service area up to 20% of the time within RWA territory.
- This position will also require sitting for long periods of
time, walking, standing, bending, and walking, as well as using
fine motor skills, such as finger dexterity for typing.
- This position could be exposed to loud noises, frequent phone
conversations, and requires average to above average visual acuity
and hearing. The RWA is seeking candidates that reflect our STARS
