worked:37.5Position Focus:The Director, Parent Gifts has
responsibility for leading the university's thriving parent giving
program to unprecedented levels of success in the context of the $7
billion for Humanity campaign and beyond. Reporting to the
associate vice president, the director is responsible for the
overall leadership, strategic direction and growth of the parent
gifts program, which seeks to increase and enhance engagement with
and raise funds from high-capacity non-alumni parents whose
children are current or former Yale College students. The director
leads the parent gifts team to develop and implement strategies to
raise money for the university's highest priorities, including
establishing and monitoring specific activity goals for
identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding non-alumni
parent prospects; and overseeing volunteer engagement and event
planning. The director personally manages a portfolio of non-alumni
parents who are capable of making major gifts to the university;
conducts national prospect cultivation and stewardship and builds
relationships with university administrators and faculty leading to
successful gift solicitations; and manages meetings and activities
of the Parents Leadership Council and cultivation events for
parents. The Director, Parent Gifts leads and manages the parent
gifts team, providing guidance and direction and ensuring team

Responsible for planning, managing, and executing all aspects of a
comprehensive strategy for raising gifts from non-alumni parents of
current and former Yale College students including identifying,
cultivating and soliciting non-alumni Yale parents who are capable
of making major gifts to the university. Create and present
proposals for gifts to the university's highest priority needs and
personally maintain a significant portfolio of major and principal
gift prospects. As required, travel extensively within the United
States to meet with donors in their home regions. 2. Work closely
with parent volunteers and volunteer chairs to develop meaningful
on-campus, virtual and regional experiences that effectively engage
the group's members and help to activate them as major donors and
university advocates. 3. Formulate engagement strategies for all
high-capacity parent prospects and plan special events in
conjunction with university events such as family weekend. 4. Lead
the parent gifts team, providing guidance and support to help
ensure success of the parent gifts program. 5. Gain fluency in the
priorities and excellence of the schools, units and areas of Yale
University and articulate giving opportunities to prospective
donors. 6. Build productive relationships across the university
with administrators, faculty and unit development directors. Work
regularly and cooperatively with campus partners and fundraising
colleagues to develop and coordinate strategies, cultivate donors,
and raise gifts. 7. Write, edit and approve a range of proposals
and correspondence. 8. Facilitate and staff meetings with
university leaders and prospective donors. 9. May perform other
duties as assigned.Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's
Degree and eight years of related work experience in an academic
institution or an equivalent combination of education and

raising major capital gifts, preferably in higher education.
