These values - integrity, patient-centered, respect, accountability, and compassion - must guide what we do, as individuals and professionals, every day.The Clinical Program Director of the Neurogastroenterology and Motility Laboratory, is responsible for directing all motility lab operations across Yale New Haven Health System, Digestive Health Service line, including all ambulatory sites, and procedural areas within the health system. Provides strategic and operational leadership for all lab clinical operations. Accountable for all facets of the operations including reviewing motility testing quality, managing patient demand, access, throughput, patient satisfaction, regulatory preparedness, billing compliance, physician satisfaction, employee satisfaction, business development and clinical integration. Responsible for promoting motility lab culture that focuses on patient - and family -centered care and on enhancing a world class model both operationally and clinically.EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran Responsibilities 1. Directs the Neurogastroenterology Motility Lab assuring comparable standards of care throughout the continuum of care. Collaboratively defines models of neurogastroenterology practice, determines technician resources and education requirements, and assures the highest quality standards for clinical practices across all identified care areas and system sites. Coordinates initiatives to measure and improve the quality of the motility program. Participates as faculty in the Yale Section of Digestive Disease as appropriate.2. Oversees the GI technicians in each of the service areas; responsible in recruiting GI techs and mentoring MD faculty & fellows. Supports the recruitment of motility program staff and faculty. Reviews annual competencies and training. Collaborates MD & RNs in the Pediatric GI section on motility services.3. Oversees and facilitates the evaluation of and coordination of process improvements for the system motility labs. Monitors and maintains vendor contracts. Leads clinical staff through any accreditation requirements. Oversees the ongoing assessment of compliance with TJC, State, Local and Federal regulations for all motility services inclusive of system readiness. Coordinates initiatives to prepare for surveys/inspections by various regulatory agencies.4. Participates on an ongoing basis in the strategic planning process in respect to motility services. Promotes an organization-wide awareness of and commitment to the mission, vision, and development strategies of Yale New Haven Health. Helps to promote community awareness and support for the motility patients.5. Partners with the Executive Directors and other senior managers to create, implement and manage the strategic direction and long-term plans for Digestive Health communication between all levels of staff and administrative management, serving as the key link to communicate policies, facilitate the exchange of ideas, and ensure the integration of the goals, vision and mission of Yale New Haven Health.6. Optimizes clinical program results by maintaining internal and external customer service focus; continuously enhances value through performance improvement initiatives, and facilitates the expeditious resolution of problems by exercising sound judgment. Is fiscally responsible for the use of resources. Focuses on and contributes to the enhancement of the financial strength of the Digestive Health Service Line to fulfill its long-term mission.7. Leads by example and holds self and others accountable through collaboration, teamwork, respect, and dignity, adhering to the Standards of Professional Behavior. Serves as a visible leader, working closely with top management, physicians and staff to assure continuous growth, coordination, and integration of clinical activities.8. Establishes and maintains effective and productive physician relationships by ensuring physician satisfaction with program development, and establishing and maintaining a leadership structure that creates meaningful opportunities for physician engagement and involvement in the design, execution and improvement of services. Partners with physicians and hospital administrators to discuss current and future motility services. Works collaboratively with motility physician leadership in accommodating additional volume in support of YNHH strategic goals/initiatives and develops business plans as appropriate to ensure appropriate allocation of resources.9. Oversees the billing, revenue and expense budget planning process and ensures business development plans and targets are achieved or exceeded. Is responsible for administering, analyzing, and reporting on budget variance as part of the overall hospital budget process and works collaboratively with finance to ensure accuracy of the Profit and Loss statements. Functions as a primary driver of Yale New Haven Health non-salary labor reduction initiatives. Develops comprehensive analysis for motility program financial and programmatic recommendations for sectional & service line leadership utilizing consistent tools for resource analysis.10. Implements the control and effective utilization of the physical and financial resources of the Digestive Service Line. Employs a system of responsible accounting, including budget and internal controls. Plays an integral role in major motility program development efforts.11. Standardize GI Motility Laboratory Procedures and Protocols Across the system. Maintain monthly conferences with system motility lab staff at least twice/month to discuss data, billing, regulatory and quality controls. Academics; Meet monthly with GI Laboratory staff to discuss new literature pertaining to motility. Mentor, oversight and mentoring of GI fellows, Pediatric fellows, and Colorectal Fellows. Coordinate visiting professorships related to motility. Host a GI Motility Laboratory Theater yearly.12. Review all tests performed not limited to Anorectal Manometry/Balloon Expulsion Test, Pudendal Nerve Latency Test, Hyrdrogen Breath Test, Urea Breath Test, Colonic Transit Test, Wireless Motility Capsule, Colonic Manometry, Secretin Stimulation Test, Wireless pH. QualificationsEDUCATIONRequired: PhD and training in Neurogastroenterology.EXPERIENCEMinimum of 8 years of progressive experience in management positions (motility lab administration)SPECIAL SKILLSExperience in Neurogastroenterology and Motility Laboratory operations, billing and strategic planning. Experience in teaching fellows, residents and technicians. Background in research, grants and publications. Strong leadership skills including demonstrated ability to collaboratively inspire and motivate individuals. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
