Enrolling approximately 2,500 high school students through a highly competitive application process, YYGS participants represent more than 100 countries and all 50 U.S. States. The program offers 12 sessions on Yale's campus in STEM, social science, and humanities fields. The program features inspiring Yale lectures, and over 150 dedicated undergraduate, graduate, and professional school student instructors lead small-group discussions, teach their own unique seminars, and supervise collaborative projects.

Reporting to the YYGS Director, the Associate Director of Academic Affairs serves a key leadership role in the development of YYGS and is responsible for a wide range of activities and initiatives related to academic development and program operations, including: managing an academic team of five direct reports who are responsible for designing curriculum and coordinating logistics for the YYGS summer sessions; providing the strategic vision for program content and operations; serving as a liaison with Yale Conference & Events for coordinating program operations and with external vendors for aspects related to residential life; conceptualizing infrastructure to increase operational efficiencies, including implementation of new technology to manage large amounts of data; analyzing program data to help inform data-driven decision making; reading applications of high school students from around the world applying to YYGS; supporting efforts to recruit, hire and train instructional staff and secure engaging lecturers from Yale; building and maintaining relationships with the academic community at Yale; and maintaining a critical and front-facing leadership role during the summer. Participates in efforts involving data interpretation and analysis for academic program improvement and promotes institutional accountability. Provides detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis of assessment data to YYGS leadership, and disseminates information to faculty members and appropriate groups on campus. Designs and implements educational program assessments, with the aim to develop standards, protocols and technologies. Leads and participates in projects and initiatives that focus on improving teaching, outcomes assessment, and learning. Collaborates with personnel in Yale Conference & Events, the Yale Undergraduate Admissions Office, the Office of Career Strategy, ITS, the Office of the Provost, the Yale College Dean's Office, the graduate and professional schools, and academic departments at Yale on the implementation of YYGS programming. Leads or supervises YYGS program managers or student workers as needed. Contributes to the mission of YYGS by participating in relevant committees and ongoing professional development. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in related field and four years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Preferred Education and Experience PhD in a field relevant to the academic content of YYGS Experience with enrichment programs, such as the Yale Young Global Scholars Program Familiarity with the Yale community Experience working with young adults Experience managing programs or teams Willingness to lecture in YYGS Required Skill/Ability 1: Demonstrated ability in managing programs or teams. Self-starter and entrepreneurial, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Required Skill/Ability 2: Ability to quickly learn and excel in new technology, including online systems and platforms such as Technolutions Slate, Canvas, Veoci and CampDoc; comfort with managing and analyzing large amounts of information in a fast-paced environment. Required Skill/Ability 3: Demonstrated flexibility and agility to adapt to changing work demands and balance many projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact with a range of individuals including high school and college-age students, parents, faculty members and staff on a wide variety of academic and professionally-related issues. Required Skill/Ability 4: Proven experience with and/or demonstrated comfort level teaching and working with high school-age audiences. Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Required Skill/Ability 5: Demonstrated commitment to pedagogical development in undergraduate and graduate students. Familiarity with Yale University. Ability to work evenings and weekends during the summer and admissions cycles. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Ph.D. relevant to the academic content of YYGS. Experience with academic enrichment programs, such as Yale Young Global Scholars.
