Associate Director for Multicultural Affairs Salary: $65,000.00

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years
of professional full-time experience in higher education working
directly with culturally diverse student populations. Experience
developing and implementing events and programs. One (1) year of
supervisory experience (student staff supervisory experience may be
considered). Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Higher Education
Administration or College Student Personnel. Additional years (4+)
of professional full-time experience in higher education working
directly with culturally diverse student populations. Experience
with student leadership development. Experience advising diverse
student groups, clubs and/or organizations. Experience
collaborating with faculty and staff. Experience supervising
professional staff. Budget administration experience. Experience
updating social media and/or other outreach efforts. Brief
Description of Duties:
The Associate Director for Multicultural Affairs advances the
mission of the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Stony Brook
University to embrace a campus environment that educates, affirms
diversity, and promotes inclusion and equity for all its members.
In this role, the Associate Director advocates for the needs of
Stony Brook's diverse student population, working cross
divisionally and with other areas of the institution. The incumbent
designs, plans, implements, and evaluates a broad range of campus
wide programs and culturally based initiatives that promote
diversity, multicultural education, and community building. The
Associate Director is responsible for overseeing the administrative
and management functions of the beautiful 3,500 square foot UNITI
Cultural Center (UCC); providing leadership, support, oversight of
the UCC budget; and creating collaborative partnerships throughout
the campus community. The incumbent coordinates all facets of the
Stony Brook University chapter of the Student African American
Brotherhood national organization (SAAB) as a major student
retention initiative. The Associate Director for Multicultural
Affairs advises, coordinates, and evaluates student activities and
leadership development and training programs, and is responsible
for coordinating and guiding a student programming board and
various other committees. The successful incumbent will have
excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrate an ability to be
adaptable to unique circumstances, and exercise strong
organizational and time management skills with an exceptional
attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to
work autonomously as well as part of a team with a collaborative
approach to problem solving. The incumbent performs complex and
diverse duties and is responsible for ensuring all procedures,
programming and special events are managed efficiently including
budget and student staffing. Working collaboratively with the
LGBTQ* Center, the incumbent will provide program support that
aligns with the strategic initiatives of the Office of
Multicultural Affairs. Strategic Leadership and Supervision
This is a full time appointment.--FLSA Exempt position, not
eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary
threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. Essential

that are designated as such are required to report to work/remain
at work even if classes are cancelled, and the campus is working on
limited operations in an emergency. Evening and weekend work may be
