Summary:

The Set-Up Mechanic provides a high level of hands-on activities for the installation of new equipment, Installation Qualifications (IQ), and preventive and routine maintenance of manufacturing equipment. The Mechanic must apply mechanical experience to enhance, expand, and optimize the manufacturing equipment and specializes in the set-up operations of sterile filling lines, capping equipment, vial washers, and sterilizing tunnels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of equipment set-up for production equipment assigned to the manufacturing department. Responsible for assisting the Equipment Mechanic in performing preventive and routine maintenance procedures on all production equipment assigned to manufacturing/production. Responsible for ensuring compliance with cGMPs, corporate and site-specific policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for compiling area-specific shift information and line status data in an accurate and timely fashion and reporting that information to the support groups as well as the oncoming shift management team. Assist with in-depth cross-functional training of all members in manufacturing/production. Assist the Technical group with Projects and process improvements
  • Assist the Line Lead/supervisor when required. Be a liaison between the parts crib team and the production team to ensure the correct equipment is supplied for operations and returned promptly. Perform equipment checks as required by operations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair duties in the absence of the Equipment Mechanic. Assist in the training of line technicians on the process equipment. Responsible for placing Maintenance Work Orders and ordering operating supplies and consumables when necessary.
  • Work with LSS Black Belts on projects for line improvements. Perform manufacturing tasks as assigned by your supervisor. Other tasks as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Education and/or Experience:

    High School Diploma or GED with less than (one) 1 year of relevant experience and/or training in a related industry or equivalent combination of education and experience. An associate's degree in a relevant field or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is a plus.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Computer Skills:

    Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS-Word/Excel and maintenance management databases. Hands-on experience in the operation/maintenance of manufacturing equipment is preferred.

    Must pass a background check

    Must pass a drug screen and physical

    Must pass WonScore assessment

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock; explosives; risk of radiation, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
