Sailing Instructor – 2026 Season Hourly Rate : $20.00 to $27.00 Per
Hour (Based on Experience) About Larchmont Yacht Club Larchmont
Yacht Club has a long-standing tradition of fostering a love for
sailing, racing, and sportsmanship in the Corinthian spirit. We are
proud to be a leading center for youth sailing, offering a dynamic
program that supports skill development, teamwork, and a lifelong
passion for the sport. Our Junior Sailing Program engages over 230
sailors each summer, supported by 25 Junior Instructors and 22
professional coaches. We offer a collaborative coaching
environment, access to top-level equipment, and opportunities for
instructors to grow as educators and leaders. Position Overview We
are hiring motivated, knowledgeable Sailing Instructors for our
2026 Junior Sailing Program. Instructors will work with a range of
sailors from beginners to competitive racers in Optis, C420s,
Fevas, Lasers (ILCA), and keelboats. This role is hands-on,
engaging, and ideal for instructors who want to develop as leaders
while helping young sailors build confidence and competence on the
water. This position includes opportunities to coach private
lessons, attend away regattas, and take part in weekly coach
practices using our Z420s. Instructors will report to the Sailing
Director and are expected to participate in Instructor Week, Junior
Commissioning, and all Junior Race Week events. Program Dates:
Start: On or after June 14, 2026 End: August 14, 2026 Final dates
will be confirmed by January 15, 2026, based on the program
calendar. Key Responsibilities Coach junior sailors across a range
of skill levels in Optis, Fevas, C420s, Lasers, Sonars, Ideal 18s,
or keelboats Lead safe and structured on-water sessions, including
drills, instruction, and racing Collaborate with fellow instructors
to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans Offer individualized
feedback and support to help sailors improve Maintain and oversee
the care of boats, coach equipment, and waterfront areas Act as a
mentor and role model for Junior Instructors and sailors Uphold
LYC’s values of sportsmanship, professionalism, and teamwork Our

regional and national regattas Optional participation in team
racing practices for coaches Leadership opportunities as a Lead
Instructor. These roles include responsibility for curriculum
design, drill selection, and class oversight A chance to be part of

18s, or Seamanship/Keelboat. Qualifications Qualifications and
Requirements Certifications (required or must be scheduled within
two weeks of accepting offer): US Sailing Level 1 (international
equivalents will be considered) US Sailing or US Powerboating Safe
Powerboat Handling certification CPR and First Aid certification
(valid within one year of the course) Safe Sport certification
Valid New York State Boating License or a license from a reciprocal
state (international equivalents will be considered) Skills and
Attributes: Strong sailing background and prior coaching experience
Confident operating powerboats and managing group safety on the
water Positive communicator with a team-first attitude Ability to
mentor and inspire youth sailors and Junior Instructors Dependable,
organized, and able to adapt to changing situations Physical and
Schedule Requirements Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more Must
be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Must be available to work evenings and weekends as assigned Must
comply with all Club policies and safety procedures Compensation
and Additional Benefits Pay Range: $20.00 to $27.00 pay based on
experience Overtime pay and paid private lesson opportunities
