Medicine (YM) seeks a Chief Operating Officer. This executive
leader will possess an exceptional ability to lead by influence and
persuasion within a complex organization representing multiple
clinical and administrative constituencies. Ideal candidates should
have a track record of leading successfully within comparable group
practice organizations; experience working with staff to optimize
revenue cycle, practice operations, patient safety and
satisfaction, customer service, and establish best practices for
medical group management; recognition as a collaborative team
player who is a good communicator and brings out the best in the
team; and deep respect for the mission of the organization. The
ability to lead successfully in a highly competitive market is also
critical for this role.

Miller.1. The Chief Operating Officer reports to the CEO for YM.
Works closely with the clinical chairs, the CFO, the CMO, and YSM
department administrators to manage and oversee all aspects of the
extensive ambulatory clinical operations.2. Manage -500 staff
organization and influence the work across YMA and YSM clinical
departments. Collaborate closely with YNHHS clinical and
administrative leaders as the enterprise embarks on executing a
shared strategic plan. Represent YM in relevant YNHH meetings.3.
Establish trust and emerge as a respected leader and decision maker
in key initiatives and strategies to continually improve the
quality and level of service4. Develop programs to expand YM reach
and capabilities. Develop and monitor operational metrics alignment
with YM strategic initiatives. Oversee clinical ambulatory practice
site development and management; provide standards, consultation in
workforce and site re-design, space planning, practice operations
management guidelines, metrics and templates for clinical
department expansion. Develop and implement strategic initiatives
that enable YM to achieve its goals. Collaborate with CEO,
departmental leadership and staff, to drive customer relationship
management strategy and augment all aspects of patient access to
clinicians, and overall patient experience and satisfaction.
Oversee implementation of YM training and learning initiatives.
Serve on various committees. Create and foster environment
supportive of employee satisfaction, improved productivity, service
and quality. Oversee operations compliance with applicable
regulatory, contractual and accreditation requirements. Collaborate
with YSM FI and clinical departments to develop business plans.
Intentionally lead, focus on advancing DEIB practices. Ensure YMA
staff participate in key Yale HR initiatives. Ensure compliance
with YSM and Yale policies and procedures. -5. Assure the highest
standards of healthcare delivery and outcomes, ensure a constant
patient focus. With YNHHS, contribute to EPIC optimization.
Leverage technologies and data, enhance patient access, establish
standard guidelines and metrics across the enterprise to include
strategy and metrics for productivity, operational performance,
staff development, retention, and satisfaction; achieve metrics
annually. Evaluate and improve current practice operations,
policies, and processes while identifying opportunities to
standardize clinical operations and integration across the PHO
network. Ensure YM's success as reimbursement shifts from volume to
value-based care. Foster environment of continuous quality
improvement, including the identification of concrete performance
measures across clinical, service, financial, operational,
management, patient satisfaction, and community functions. Hardwire
responsive and proactive operating processes and systems to meet
market pressures and growth. Collaborate with senior leadership, to
refine and execute overall strategy of the enterprise,
strengthen/align business/clinical objectives across, to position
YM for future sustainability. Drive process improvements to deliver
consistent and standardized practice operations designed to improve
clinical services, outcomes, patient throughput, and patient
safety. Ensure YM performs to budget goals. Manage network
integrity, achieve system growth objectives to minimize loss.
Connect YM and YSM through communication, aligned priorities,
initiative implementation, and active engagement in administrative
priorities. Effectively represent YM needs, challenges, and
opportunities. Proactively share knowledge and best practices.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls to provide
effective and appropriate resource use, accurate financial
information, and adhere to contractual terms. Communicate, address
and escalate risks in a timely and appropriate manner; protect
assets, resources, information and reputation of YM and
Yale.Required Education and ExperienceMaster's degree in Business
Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field is
required. A minimum of 10 years' experience in progressive
leadership roles in a multi-specialty group practice, health
system, PHO or IPA or within an integrated health system.
Experience working collaboratively with community-based providers
is required.Required Skill/Ability 1:Ability to lead by influence
and persuasion within a complex organization representing multiple
clinical and administrative constituencies. Ability to lead
successfully in a highly competitive market. Experience working

Skill/Ability 2:Experience in a value-driven organization,
demonstrating high levels of quality/clinical outcomes, service,
productivity, and efficient operations. A successful track record
of acting as a change agent within an organization. Strong business

3:Demonstrated leadership accomplishments and experience in the
overall improvement of financial and operational performance of a
healthcare organization. Successful track record of redesigning
practice management systems and aligning incentives that have
diminished silos and helped improve the performance across clinical
specialties.Required Skill/Ability 4:Exceptional physician
relations skills and experience working collaboratively with
employed or private medical groups. Knowledge of national physician
practice trends, policies, and issues affecting physician
practices. Familiarity with risk, managed care, capitation, ACO
development, and population health management.Required
Skill/Ability 5:Knowledge and experience with Lean/Six Sigma in a
physician practice setting. Experience with IT systems; electronic
health records (EHR) and computerized physician order entry (CPOE).
Ability to assist the health system in making key IT-related
decisions impacting physician practices.Preferred Education,
Experience and Skills:Strong preference for a master's degree in
Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
A clinical degree or experience. Experience working in a union
