If you're looking to join a growing company led by passionate people committed to being the best - contact us today!The Spirit of the Position:TheSenior Accountant, Insurance reports to the Chief Financial Officer and supports the company's strategy for enhancing the supervision of its insurance plans and key business risks. This leader will create and implement policies, guidelines, processes, and measures that help to safeguard, monitor, and develop the effectiveness of the insurance programs. S/he will partake in the implementation of new financial models to define appropriate cost drivers, KPIs, mitigation metrics, and risk monitoring dashboards. Thus, s/he will capitalize on such expertise to drive the annual RFP process to secure the best services and benefits. Principal Job Duties:

  • Own the insurance controlling and finance analysis process, including:
    • Review and controls the bookkeeping of all insurance costs and claims.
    • Evaluate current practices for processing/administering claims and establish improvements.
    • Design and suggest internal control workflows and procedures.
    • Manage the internal processes of controls on allocations and rebilling.
    • Learn and performs root cause analysis and be able to articulate any identified issues that requires assistance in resolving.
    • Developing dedicated reporting with appropriate KPI.
    • Reviewing monthly claims reports and reporting on monthly reserve changes for WC, Auto, GL and Health.
    • Leading the strategy for development and implementation of an efficient company-wide allocation program that crosses regions, silos and types of business.
    • Maintaining data mapping documents and other data design artifacts on nature of risks.
    • Collaborate with CEO, CFO, Treasurer and Head of People & Culture on insurance, including the following:Forecasting twice a year for health insurance, WC insurance, auto and GKL insurance.
    • Provide analysis of insurance actual performance for monthly & annual reporting.
    • Provide template and risk mapping to support the insurance renewal RFP process.
    • Support executive team in the negotiations of insurance policies.
    • Leverage internal expertise in technology to develop risk databases and propose Power-BI dashboard.
    • Innovate, strategize and implement practices for ongoing, continuous improvement to gain knowledge of inherent risks of business.
    • Develop a working relationship with subject matter experts in the industry and within our field operations to understand the differences and challenges for each market.
    • Cultivate a culture shift to promote mitigation initiatives and management of risks as a top priority across all regions.
    • Partner with Regional and Senior Vice Presidents, Sr. HR Business Partners and other key resources to develop and deploy effective claims and risk management initiatives that drive positive results for the company.
    • Navigate organizational reality to become the expert accountable for being compliant with practices that minimize the company's risk.
    • Participate to due diligences on internal/external growth opportunities.
    • Liaises with finance, accounting, operations, and human resources teams for directing the execution of dedicated financial reporting, control and analysis of all insurance matters while overseeing the internal allocation of insurance costs.
    • Other duties as needed.Education:
      • Bachelor's degree required.
      • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or MBA preferred but not required.Experience:
        • Minimum of 7+ years of related experience in general insurance and risk management.
        • Knowledge of premium and losses.
        • Experience with STAT and GAAP financial reporting.
        • Experience in managing cross-functional projects.
        • Big 4 Audit experience preferred.Skills:
          • General knowledge of US GAAP accounting practices and principles
          • Advanced analytic skills
          • Intermediate to advanced data utilization skills to access and gather data, including a basic understanding of what the data represents
          • Change management savvy and ability to drive strategies
          • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization.
          • Ability to influence results in a multi-site, multi-state environment.
          • Excellent interpersonal skills.
          • Ability to effectively manage up.
          • Ability to document policies, procedures and standard business practices.
          • Advanced ability to use Excel (and other tools) to create/develop reports.
          • Good knowledge of Word, Power Point and General Microsoft Office Applications.
          • Ability to work well in tight timeframes and deadlines.Physical Demands:
